The joy of painting! God’s Creation of beauty lives within my heart and soul. There is beauty everywhere to behold! Living on the California Central Coast is paradise in itself. Add ocean, rocks and cliffs, beautiful trees, flowers and gardens; and images for new paintings seem to flow from my heart. Setting up my palette, squeezing glorious colorful pigments from tubes and putting brush to paper; and here I am, in this wonderland. Indeed, being grateful and thankful for these surroundings are my drive to compose and paint my interpretation of what I see and feel; en plein aire and my studio. People ask about “my style” of painting. I would have to say; my work reveals realism and expressionism. I prefer transparent vibrant colors, with bold contrasts. My hope is that the viewer will see and feel joy. I delight in incorporating my antique collection with flowers from the garden in designing a still life composition. Also, I draw inspiration from the drama of the ocean and sunsets near my Shell Beach Cottage studio. Participating in workshops with well-known artists is an exciting part of my journey. I am grateful to have studied with Marilyn Simandle, Jo Tarabula, Robert Reynolds, Robert Burridge, and others. I hold membership in El Camino Art Association and I am a signature member of San Luis Obispo Watercolor Society. My paintings are in private collections across the United States as well as other countries. I have been blessed to have three children, ten grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren. Also, I feel very proud to have a daughter who is committed to serving God in the inner city.
